BREAKING: PSNI has issued an update on their investigation into the shooting of DCI Caldwell
PSNI has issued an update on their attempted murder investigation into the shooting of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell. Yesterday evening PSNI confirmed one of the men arrested has been released following questioning.
Earlier this week, officers released CCTV footage of the car used by the gunmen. It showed a blue Ford Fiesta, registration number MGZ 6242 which was fitted with false plates, FRZ 8414, prior to the attack. The CCTV footage shows the car leaving the sports complex after the shooting.Police have also revisited the scene where they have been handing out appeal leaflets, speaking with pedestrians, drivers and passengers and carried out house-to-house enquiries.
Yesterday evening PSNI issued the following statement: "A 47-year-old man, arrested in connection with the investigation into the attempted murder of Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell on 22nd February in the Killyclogher Road area of Omagh, has been released following questioning."Major Investigation Team detectives continue to ask for the public’s help and would appeal to witnesses or those with information to get in touch by calling 101.
"Information, including photos, CCTV and dash-cam footage, can also be provided to police through the Major Incident Public Portal at https://mipp.police.uk/operation/PSNI23S03-PO1"
