Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision in the University Road area at around 8.55am on December 27.

He was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol in breath after testing as 'twice the legal limit at the roadside'.Posting on social media, Police in South Belfast said: "Lisburn Road LPT attended an injury road traffic collision this morning and were met with a completely innocent driver who had been crashed into by a drunk driver who didn't stop for a red light.

"The drunk driver was twice the legal limit at the roadside and can look forward to explaining themselves to a judge.A spokesperson for the PSNI added: "A man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol in breath. He remains in police custody at this time. "Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or who may have dash-cam footage that could assist with enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference 633 of 27/12/22."For all the latest news, visit the Belfast Live homepage here.
