The 52-year-old was found with serious injuries in a close of flats on Renfield Street at around 3am on Monday, October 30.
Emergency services attended however Alastair, from Renfrew, was pronounced dead at the scene. On Wednesday, police confirmed a murder probe had been launched.
A 35-year-old man was previously arrested in connection with the incident and released pending further enquiries.
