At around 8.30pm on Friday a 50-year-old pedestrian was allegedly hit by a Volkswagen Golf car the A725, Kingsway in East Kilbride. Emergency services were called to the scene, on the northbound carriageway between the White Moss and Whirlies roundabouts.
The man was sadly pronounced dead upon their arrival. Police said his next of kin have been made aware. The driver, a 40-year-old man, was uninjured, he has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence and enquiries are ongoing. Sergeant Andy Currie said: “Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the full circumstances which led to this incident. We would be keen to speak to anyone with information or anyone who may have dashcam footage from the area on Friday evening.We'll bring you more information and updates on this breaking news story as we get it.
