A man has died from his injuries after being attacked and trampled by an 'out of control' cow, police in Wales have said
A man has died from his injuries after being attacked and trampled by an"out of control" cow, police in Wales have said.
The animal escaped from Whitland Mart, reportedly a livestock market, in Carmarthenshire on the morning of 19 November. It then made its way to the centre of the town of Whitland where in North Road it seriously injured the man, who was airlifted to University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff. Trains had to be stopped after the"dangerously out of control" animal crossed nearby tracks and then went into a field.A statement by the force at the time of the attack read:"Dyfed-Powys Police, together with the Health and Safety Executive, are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident where a cow that had escaped from Whitland Mart injured an elderly man in North Road, Whitland, at around 10.15am on 19 November.
A spokesperson added that despite efforts to deal with it humanely, the"danger it posed" meant the cow was"humanely dispatched with the consent of the owner".
