The 51-year-old driver was hospitalised after the accident, which happened this morning on the Raith Interchange, but he did not survive.
Police were called to a single vehicle crash on the A725 at the Raith Interchange near Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire on Wednesday morning.
The 51-year-old driver was taken to Hairmyres Hospital. It is understood he took unwell at the wheel. He later died in hospital. His next of kin has been notified. The southbound road and the M74 slip onto the interchange were closed as a result of the smash, and drivers were urged to take care and expect delays.
