Man appears in court accused of making 'explosive substance for unlawful purpose' following Reddish emergency services incident
David Prior is accused of making an explosive substance - namely 'improvised explosive devices' - between January 1 and June 2 this year. The 50-year-old appeared at Manchester Magistrates' Court today . He spoke only to confirm his name and address.
The charge was read by prosecutor Eileen Rogers as 'making an explosive substance for an unlawful purpose between January 1 2023 and June 2 2023 at Stockport, made an explosive substance, namely improvised explosive devices, under such circumstances as to give rise to a reasonable suspicion that you were not making it for a lawful object'. Mr Prior was not asked to enter a plea.It following an emergency services incident at a property in Reddish, Stockport last week.
Magistrates remanded Mr Prior, of Middleton Road, Reddish, Stockport, into custody to next appear at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on July 13 for a plea and trial preparation hearing. No application for bail was made by Mr Prior's solicitor, James Warburton.
