Fulwood Booths police standoff after man climbs onto roof and police swarm area
A man has been in a three-hour standoff with police after climbing onto the roof of a supermarket in Preston.
Emergency services, including a police helicopter, were called to the scene on Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood, shortly before 5.30pm yesterday . It followed reports that a man had climbed onto the roof of Booths supermarket and 'barricaded himself'. Pictures from the scene showed a large police response with several vehicles parked at the supermarket. A police helicopter was also seen flying overhead.Lancashire Constabulary said the incident lasted around three hours before the man, in his 20s, 'came down safely'. He was taken to hospital for treatment to a leg injury.
In a statement this morning , a force spokesperson told LancsLive: "We were called at 5.26pm yesterday to Booths supermarket, Sharoe Green Lane, Fulwood, Preston, to a report of a concern for safety. Officers attended and a man, was on the roof of the building. "The man, aged in his 20s, came down safely from the roof at 8.27pm and was taken to hospital for treatment to a leg injury."
