A man who attacked his ex-partner has been told "you should be ashamed of yourself" by a judge who jailed him.
She fell asleep but woke up around 6.40am and again said she wanted to go home. Murphy was verbally abusive to her, told her she wasn't allowed to go home then grabbed her by the throat again which resulting in her struggling to breathe. He drove her to a nearby garage and during the car journey Murphy struck her in the face. When she started crying he told her to be quiet.
Despite giving a "no comment" response to police, Murphy pleaded guilty to a charge assaulting his former partner occasioning actual bodily harm and to common assault on March 18, 2022.
