The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services

The car, reported to be a blue Ford Fiesta, crashed into a wall on the southern edge of the Glenapp Estate as it travelled along the A77 near the South Ayrshire town of Ballantrae, between Girvan and Cairnryan, at around 12.40am on May 14.

The driver, whose name has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services following the collision. Police closed the road for 11 hours following the smash to carry out investigations. Images from the scene showed officers retrieving and bagging wreckage from the vehicle.Top news stories today A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were made aware of a crash involving a single car on the A77 near Ballantrae around 12.40am on Sunday, 14 May.
