Man pleads not guilty to failing to stop in Christmas Day incident in which 81-year-old woman died
A man appeared at court today and pleaded not guilty to failing to stop after an incident in which a woman died on Christmas Day last year. Paul Greenslade, 64, appeared at Bolton Magistrates Court today and confirmed his not guilty plea to the charge.
Greenslade, of Egerton Road, Belmont, was driving a Range Rover on Newbrook Road, Over Hulton, on the evening of December 25 last year when an accident happened "where personal injury occurred to another person". The accident involved 81-year-old Lillian Conroy who died that day. A trial date was fixed for May 3 of next year to be heard at Bolton Crown Court. The case was adjourned until this date for the trial by Magistrate Martin Simpson. The family of Lillian Conroy described her as a 'kind lady who loved her family' in a statement shortly after her death. It said: "She was a mother, sister, mother in law, grandma, great-grandma, aunty, sister in law and a friend to many.
"Our family will never come to terms with our loss, Mum was a kind lady who loved her family and liked nothing more than having us all around her. We take some comfort from knowing that she is now resting in peace with our dad who she missed dearly following his death seven years ago. "We would like to thank everyone who helped her, it gives our family a lot of comfort to know there were such lovely people with her, we are very grateful to you all for everything you did and all the caring and kindness you showed to our Mum."
