Two cars were involved in the collision
A man has been rushed to hospital following a crash involving two cars on a Greater Manchester motorway. Emergency services were called out to the M66 southbound near Bury at around 9am this morning .
Firefighters and paramedics were sent out to the scene near junction two, while highways workers cleared the area. A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said a man in his 20s was taken to hospital following the collision. There were reports of a spillage on the road following the crash. Traffic tailed back on the southbound side of the M66 to the A56 at Edenfield.The incident was cleared by 10.30am. A Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “At 9am on Tuesday, September 5, firefighters were called out to a road traffic collision near Junction two of the M66.
“Two fire engines from Bury and Ramsbottom quickly attended the scene where two cars had collided. Crews helped to move both vehicles off the road before handing the incident over to the Highways Agency.”
