A man was left seriously injured after his car flipped over in a crash before he was arrested by police. Emergency services were called to the collision on Leigh Road in Atherton shortly before 12pm.
Police cordoned off the road as paramedics also attended, with dramatic pictures taken from the scene showing the car badly damaged after flipping onto its side. A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries that police said are not currently believed to be life threatening. He was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.Police said they responded to reports of the collision, which was between two vehicles, at around 11.55am. Enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "At around 11.55am today , officers responded to reports of a two vehicle RTC in Leigh Road, Atherton. "One person has been taken to hospital with serious injuries, not currently believed to be life-threatening. A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. Enquiries are currently ongoing."
