One man decided to find out exactly how much each of the appliance's settings cost to run.
With the cost of living crisis continuing to put pressure on households, many of us will be wondering how to cut down on bills and reduce our energy consumption.
Appliances such as washing machines are essential all year round, but they can contribute to higher energy bills because of the amount of electricity they use.Mike of Mike's Money Talk on TikTok has dedicated his account to helping Brits save money and combat the cost of living crisis. He said: " I've done three different wash loads; eco wash, a 40C synthetic wash and a 60C cotton wash."
Coming in second was the 40C synthetic wash, as Mike explained: "A 40C synthetic wash used 0.9kw, so that cost significantly more at 25p." Top Trending Stories Today In the comments, people were left impressed by Mike's findings, with one person saying: "Wow that's a huge difference", and another hailing the savings as "very impressive".
But, to help put people's minds at ease, Mike pointed out: "According to the instruction manual, eco uses between 38-85L, synthetic wash used 85L, and 60c cotton uses 162L."
