Chris Swain said he started to struggle with tying his shoelaces
A man who went to his doctors after thinking he had asthma was later told to go straight to hospital.
While on holiday in the Lake District, Chris had to buy a walking pole for the first time because he was struggling. Chris said he even found tying his walking boots was hard work. At the hospital he was told that he had previously suffered a heart attack, as well as being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation - which causes your heart to beat abnormally, which might feel like your heart is fluttering. Chris said the medical staff were surprised that he hadn’t noticed any physical symptoms at the time and said they put it down to his general fitness and good health.
Chris is one of several employees at Newton-on-the Willows based business Speedy Hire where colleagues have been affected by heart disease. This has inspired the company to donate an incredible £25,000 to the British Heart Foundation .
