Man United are currently propping up Group A in the Champions League with two defeats from two and their dismal away record suggests points need to come at Old Trafford.
Manchester United can look forward to Champions League football off the back of victory for the first time this season, and every ounce of momentum will be needed to arrest a concerning start on the continent.
Both of those fixtures followed disappointing defeats against Brighton and Crystal Palace respectively, but when United host the Danish champions on Tuesday they do so having won back-to-back Premier League matches for the first time this season. Neither performance was perfect but Ten Hag will hope that winning feeling can breed confidence.
What United cannot boast is anything close to a respectable away record, particularly in intimidating atmospheres or against top teams. Last season, United picked up one point away from home against the other eight teams in the top nine, and on their first foray into a European stadium with a serious atmosphere, they were dumped out of the Europa League with a 3-0 defeat in Sevilla.
Ten Hag's side end their group stage campaign at Old Trafford but do so against Bayern, who were far better than the one-goal advantage on the scoreboard suggested. United cannot afford to enter that game needing to win and hoping that others slip up.
