The 50-year-old was jailed for 12 weeks
A wanted man was found by officers asleep in the city centre. Nottinghamshire Police found the man on Lincoln Street, near Hockley, at 9.45am on Monday, June 12, after he was identified as a suspect in an investigation regarding multiple shop thefts.
The man was searched, during which a quantity of Class B drugs were found. The man was arrested by officers, who were part of Operation Compass, a plain-clothed and uniformed police team in the city centre. The man was taken into custody, and subsequently charged with four counts of theft and possession of a class B drug. Robert Ord, of Church Walk, Worksop, appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, June 13, where he pleaded guilty to all five counts.

Sergeant Jonathan Pothecary, who leads the Op Compass team, said: “Retail and drug offences can often be seen as victimless crimes but that cannot be further from the truth. “We will continue to carry out patrols as part of our ongoing efforts to clamp down on crime and put those who treat the criminal justice system with contempt before the courts.”
