A man in pajamas was found dead after jumping from a tonyPolice and EMS responded to the scene at Columbus Circle in Manhattan at 9.06pm on Thursday night, the New York Police Department said.
They arrived to find an unconscious man in front of the Deutsche Bank Center, who had ‘injuries indicative of having fallen/jumped from an elevated position.’The Deutsche Bank Center consists of two glass skyscrapers that house a shopping mall, the Jazz at Lincoln Center theater, a Whole Foods Supermarket, and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.
The towers also host a luxury apartment complex, once home to celebrities including Gisele Bundchen, Cynthia Nixon, and Jay-Z and Beyoncé. Investigators quickly determined the victim leaped from the top of the hotel – a ritzy five-star establishment where rooms facing Central Park start at $1,195 per night.
After an investigation, NYPD detectives determined he ‘entered the lobby of the hotel, took the service elevator to the top floor, and entered the roof area.’
