A man with a history of domestically abusing his female partners has been made the subject of a 30-month Probation Order
.
The 39-year-old, with an address in South Belfast, admitted three charges arising from an incident at his partner's flat.He was sentenced for causing criminal damage to a door and assaulting his partner in her flat on October 14, 2022, and breaching a restraining order on the same date.Despite a restraining order being in place to protect her, she invited him into her flat for a drink. An argument between the couple then broke out and he punched her, which caused her to flee to the bathroom.

During interview, he said he and his partner had been drinking and claimed she attacked him first. He also accepted he grabbed her by the throat. Judge Reel was told by a prosecuting barrister that Donaldson had a history of assaults against both this woman and former partners.
