Man United are looking at two Spaniards among the left-backs they could recruit to offset Luke Shaw's significant absence.
Tottenham defender Sergio Reguilon and Marc Cucurella of Chelsea are among the left-backs Manchester United are considering signing before Friday's transfer deadline.
Reguilon, 26, has not played for Tottenham since April 2022 and spent last season on loan at Atletico Madrid. It is understood the Spaniard's salary demands could be too steep.Cucurella, 25, joined Chelsea from Brighton for £62million last year but is out of favour under new coach Mauricio Pochettino, who prefers Ben Chilwell at left wing-back.Cucurella is contracted to Chelsea until 2028 while Reguilon is tied to Spurs until 2025.
The Manchester Evening News revealed on Friday United are open to signing a left-back as Luke Shaw is expected to be out for at least two months with a muscular injury. Fellow left-back Tyrell Malacia has been out with an unspecified injury since he returned to the club over a month ago and the Dutchman is not due to be available again until after the September internationals.
United manager Erik ten Hag confirmed the club could reinforce at left-back. "It can be . I think we always have to anticipate on situations. If there are opportunities then yes, but it has to be the right player otherwise we have to deal with the current squad.Right-back Diogo Dalot started at left-back in United's comeback win over Nottingham Forest.
