Man Utd have just days to make further additions to the squad following the arrivals of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund so far this summer
Erik ten Hag has reinforced his squad this summer with an initial outlay of £166.2m that could rise by a further £16.4m with add-ons for the signings of Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund. The United boss headed into the summer with the primary aims of adding a dynamic midfielder and a top-class centre-forward, with the jury still out on whether he has achieved either of these aims following an underwhelming start to life at Old Trafford for both Mount and Hojlund.
United's struggles in attack in their opening two Premier League games also led to rumours that Erik ten Hag might look to add another forward to his ranks before the window closed. That means United may need to bring in a goalkeeper, centre-back, left-back, central midfielder and striker before 11pm on Friday.
The Reds have a problem to solve at left-back and are interested in bringing in Marc Cucurella, Sergio Reguilon or Marcos Alonso on a short-term deal although those may include some form of loan fee. Brentford's Rico Henry and Lyon's Nicolás Tagliafico have also been linked.
