Manchester has earnt itself an International Green Apple

A Manchester institution has been named one of the most beautiful buildings in the world at a prestigious awards ceremony at St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

The awards recognise buildings and structures around the world which make a positive contribution to their area as well as focus on the environment. Taking home the gold in the category was the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple in India and the bronze went to the Fire Station art space in Qatar.Named for its originally intended use, the current Corn Exchange building was first named the Corn & Produce Exchange when it was built in 1903.

“Winning this prestigious award is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our team in preserving and showcasing the architectural splendor of the Corn Exchange,” the Corn Exchange’s General Manager, Daniel Davis, said.
