in January 2022 after being arrested and later charged with attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault.were dropped earlier this year after key witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case and new material came to light during the police investigation.Following an internal investigation into Greenwood's behaviour, the decision has now been made for the player to leave.
"All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United," read a club statement."It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.
