The Money Saving Expert says switching to a different bank can land you the money - but certain criteria need to be met.
Martin Lewis has revealed how switching to a different bank could land you a free £175 in your account - but you need to act fast.
The Mirror reports that finance guru Martin wrote in his weekly Money Saving Expert email: “Yesterday another pulled, leaving just one. I hope some deals will return, but currently don't know of any fee-free accounts planning to. Luckily the one left is one of the best.” In this case, you can only get the £175 if you've never had any kind of account with First Direct, or one with its sister bank HSBC since January 2020.
Martin added: “As switching takes seven working days, do it today and you should have the money in your account towards the end of October at the latest. Plenty of time to put it towards your Christmas coffers.“
