People may be missing out and not even realising it
Martin Lewis is urging those over state pension age to check if they can claim Pension Credit. During his weekly appearance on Nihal Arthanayake’s BBC Radio 5 Live show, the financial guru said he believed Pension Credit should be an automated benefit.
Pension Credit is an additional benefit for those who have reached state pension age and are on a low income. "If you are a single pensioner with total weekly income under roughly £220 or you’re a pensioner couple - both of State Pension age, with total weekly income under roughly £320, then you may be eligible for Pension Credit."
On the show, Mr Lewis spoke about the State Pension Triple Lock and whether it will be increased next April as he said one of the arguments against the rise was that there were a lot of "wealthy people" getting the extra cash when they didn't really need it.
