Will it all be over for Matt Hancock when he gets out?
A leading Tory MP said that Matt Hancock's political career is "finished" when he returns from the Australian jungle.
Mr Hancock served as Health Secretary during much of the pandemic but was forced to resign after leaked video showed he breached his own social distancing laws during an affair with a colleague in a Government building. He also continues to face questions over the awarding of PPE contracts and his heavily disputed claims to have protected care homes during the early stages of the outbreak.
Commenting on Mr Hancock being voted to take part in bushtucker trials, he joked that it's the "only election he’s ever gonna win". Sir Jake said: "The truth is he’s politically finished. He’s a nice guy but I don’t think he’ll be coming into a major role in government. I rather suspect he’s not going to stand in the next General Election and concentrate on a career in the media.
He was also open about the problems facing the Conservative Party which is now being led by its third Prime Minister in a matter of months. Mr Sunak's entrance to 10 Downing Street follows the disastrous stint by Ms Truss which saw her become the shortest incumbent in the country's history and almost all of her policies quickly abandoned.
