A former manager of Coasters bar in New Brighton reminisces about the vibrant nightlife scene in the area during the 1990s.
A popular bar that opened over 30 years ago offered "cheap entrance tickets" to some of the biggest nightclubs in its area.
Paul later managed The Grand, which was loved for its '50p nights' and then opened Coasters bar in the 90s, a site which had previously been home to the Penny Farthing nightclub. Paul told the ECHO: "How I got to run clubs is my older brother John had met a doorman called Roy Adams when John was a student.
Paul said: "Coasters started out as the Farmhouse restaurant. We bought it as a derelict nightclub called the Penny Farthing and converted into a restaurant. Paul said: "It was very much felt more like a bar scene than a nightclub. Coasters was a much smaller premises and you could get a good pizza in there, a bite to eat.
