Their social media post left many people scratching their heads.

The Met Office have apologised for "any confusion" caused by their tribute to The Queen. The weather forecasters, like most businesses and organisations across the globe today, posted on social media to share their condolences following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

They said: "We are saddened by the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Our thoughts are with her family and all those affected by this news. As a mark of respect during this time of national mourning we will only be posting daily forecasts and warnings."But their heartfelt tribute left many people feeling confused, as some were not sure exactly what the Met Office meant by "only daily forecasts".

Others were equally confused, with many commenting to ask for clarification. @wozza777 said: "I’m not sure why posting a weather forecast for tomorrow is being disrespectful am I missing something?" Others could not resist an opportunity to lighten the mood with a joke. @McDadda said: "Can you confirm tho that there will still be weather?" And @en_ligne_ said: "very disrespectful of the Met Office to still allow sunshine at a time of national mourning".
