A new yellow weather warning for heavy rain has been issued by the Met Office which covers across large parts of England and Wales. The warning was issued on Wednesday and will be in place from Thursday, October 12 at 9pm until the 11.59pm on Friday, October 13.
The Met Office predicts that heavy showers are "likely to cause some disruption to travel". Heavy rain will move over central and western England over Thursday and Friday. Some areas could see more than 3cm of rain per hour, according to the Met Office's rainfall radar. A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Occasionally heavy rain will reach southwest Britain Thursday evening, then spread across much of England and Wales on Friday."
Residents should expect a chance that homes and businesses could be flooded, with damage to some buildings from floodwater. There is the possibility of delays and cancellations to train and bus services where flooding take place. Spray and sudden flooding could cause "difficult" driving conditions and some road closures. Thunderstorms will move over central and western England over Friday and some areas could see more than 3cm of rain per hour, according to the Met Office's rainfall radar.
