Met Office says heatwave could hit parts of UK with temperatures set to reach 33C
The Met Office has a mixed forecast for the next few days - but says parts of the UK could reach 33C.
Some areas covered by the warning could be hit by 20mm of rain in less than an hour. However, over the weekend things will look very different depending on where you are in the country.On Friday, the Met Office forecasts Scotland, Northern Ireland, northwest England, and parts of northern Wales as being hit by rainfall, with Scotland and Northern Ireland experiencing the heaviest rain. This trend will continue throughout the weekend.
“Official heatwave criteria could be met for parts of southern and eastern England, with temperatures most likely to peak in the low 30s on Sunday in the southeast, but even elsewhere temperature could still reach the high 20s. Temperatures will likely remain quite high overnight, so it’s important to look out for those who may be more vulnerable to heat.”
