Some parts of the country could reach 20C this week
Despite the rainy forecast this week, the UK could experience a second mini-heatwave this month as a second plume of warm air is set to hit the country. According to BBC weather maps, temperatures in London could reach 19C on Thursday, October 19, with other parts of south England reaching 20C.
Whilst this weather is not glorious sunshine, the Met Office has explained that a heatwave is "when a location records a period of at least three consecutive days with daily maximum temperatures meeting or exceeding the heatwave temperature threshold", reports Birmingham Live. The long-range forecast reads: "This period will likely be characterised by the UK being stuck in a battleground between low pressure to the west or southwest, and high pressure over Scandinavia.
