Bright sunshine is forecast across the region on Good Friday
The Easter weekend is off to a bright start in Greater Manchester with glorious sunshine forecast on Good Friday.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are expected to reach highs of 14C in some boroughs of Greater Manchester, with sunshine forecast throughout the day. Forecasters predict a "fine and dry day with plenty of lengthy sunny spells" with some "lighter winds" for the first day of the four-day bank holiday weekend. For those making the most of the longer days, the Met Office also says there will be "plenty of late sunshine" into the evening.It is expected to feel warmer than in previous days, although it could still get chilly overnight with temperatures of around 5C forecast for the early hours of Saturday.
David Oliver, a Met Office Deputy Chief forecaster, said: “During the second half of the Easter weekend the Atlantic will increasingly exert its influence. A frontal system is expected to move in from the west and displace the high pressure lying across the UK. This will spread rain across all areas during the latter part of Easter Sunday and through Easter Monday, although there is some uncertainty regarding its exact timing.
Meanwhile, some areas of the UK have also been warned that the pollen count will be very high this weekend, meaning hay fever sufferers could see their symptoms flare up. The pollen count for the north west is expected to be low across the majority of the weekend, but moderate on Sunday. However, The west midlands and the south have been warned to expect very high pollen levels on Sunday.
