But that resignation seeps. The defiant “We will turn it around” lines are now prefaced with a “hopefully.” For all the damage they’d done to their postseason hopes for the first 2 1/2 months, the Mets were only four games out of a playoff spot 10 days ago. That deficit has doubled in the time since.
“Everybody can critique it and talk about could-have-been and should-have-been.
