BREAKING: Mhairi Black has branded Westminster as 'toxic' as the youngest MP for 350 years announces that she's stepping down at the next election.
Often described as a rising star in the SNP, she made history as the youngest MP for 350 years when she was elected in 2015 at the age of 20.
In a tweeted statement, Ms Black wrote: ‘I have always maintained how outdated, sexist and toxic a place Westminster is. ‘I have also made clear that I have no desire to have a long career in elected politics, and as we approach the next General Election, I will have been elected for almost a decade.The statement went on to say her loved ones were in a ‘constant state of anxiety’ over her safety, due to ‘media attention, social media abuse, threats, constant travel, and the murders of two MPs’ since she was first elected.
