A much-changed Rangers side from their midweek draw with Servette ensured there was no cup upset despite going behind to the Championship side in the second-half.
Rangers manager Michael Beale admitted he was frustrated not to kill the Morton cup tie off sooner but is pleased to see his side advance as the squad continues to gel ahead of the massive clash with PSV Eindhoven.
He told Viaplay at full-time: "It was similar to the games last year against Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers here in the cup. I thought Morton were fantastic in terms of their discipline and work ethic on the day but I think they tired at the end. Asked if it was frustrating not to be killing teams off early, Beale added: "It's probably how I'd sum the game up. We started really brightly and got them on the back foot using Rabbi as an outside winger and Johnly [Yfeko] up and in early was effective.
"We have replaced the six main attacking players in the team this summer and it is taking time. Cyriel scored today, Danilo scored today, so on paper we're moving in the right direction." "I thought [Jose] Cifuentes was outstanding, young Johnly's a player that's come out of nowhere really and I was really pleased with him today also.
