Michelle Mone and the danger of not knowing when enough is enough 🔵jessiehewitson for ipaperviews.
Michelle Mone launched an app three years ago called Connect 2 Michelle Mone. Offering productivity tips and other insights into how she lives her life, the idea is that, with its help, you might learn how to become a multimillionaire with perfect hair too.
It could be said that what got her in trouble was her productivity over Covid. Instead of relaxing in her Isle of Man mansion drinking cocktails and baking sourdough, she hit the keyboard to – it is alleged – apply pressure to ministers to award public PPE contracts to a company called PPE Medpro. Mone has previously denied having any involvement in MedPro, buthas claimed to have had sight of documents that show the payment of profits from MedPro into a trust that benefits Mone and her children.
But no, and this is her problem. She couldn’t recognise that she already had enough and didn’t need to be doing things that were at clear risk of blowing up in her face later. Mone is not alone. I am lucky to have a well-paid job and to live in a house big enough to fit me, my husband, two kids, lodger, cat and two goldfish – something that isn’t easy to afford in London. And yet, when I see my better paid friends, I sometimes find myself slipping into envy, particularly around their holidays. But really: I do have enough money, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.
