The US tech giant puts forward a revised bid for Activation Blizzard which includes signing over non-European streaming rights to rival Ubisoft in a move it hopes will appease UK competition regulators

“To address the concerns about the impact of the proposed acquisition on cloud game streaming raised by the UK Competition and Markets Authority, we are restructuring the transaction to acquire a narrower set of right.”

“As part of this new deal, Activision’s cloud streaming rights outside the EEA will be sold to a rival, Ubisoft, who will be able to license out Activation’s content to any cloud gaming provider,” she said. While she welcomed the restructured bid, Cardell added that this was “not a green light”, and that the details of the deal would be assessed “carefully and objectively”.
