Inspirational Aimee McKay, who was named Miss Great Britain Glasgow 2023, is determined to be a 'pillar of strength' and show others the beauty in their own imperfections.
A Glasgow beauty queen, who covered her skin with make-up heavy enough to conceal tattoos, is determined to be a 'pillar of strength' for those who've also suffered with insecurities about their appearance.
While self-confidence grew with age, Aimee is still plagued with ignorant comments about the condition to this day. She added: "My campaign through Miss Great Britain is 'Perfectly Imperfect'. I walked down that catwalk with no fake tan and my vitiligo on show, and I won the competition. The opportunity to commit to charity work was an additional pull for inspirational Aimee, who has volunteered for Glasgow charity, Spirit Aid for over a decade. Aimee's efforts took her to Malawi with dad John, 56, to help impoverished children when she was 11 years old.
