Utterly devastating
A woman whose body was found in the River Maun in Nottinghamshire is thought to have drowned, a provisional post mortem examination has found. Kim Baker had been missing for a week and her body was found on August 27 last year.
Details from the provisional post-mortem were read out as an inquest was opened into the death of the 57-year-old from Edwinstowe on Thursday . Ms Baker had been last seen by family members on August 12, and was reported missing five days later. Her body was recovered by police from a section of the river which runs from Kirkby-in-Ashfield, east through Mansfield and towards the River Meden. Opening the inquest at Nottingham Council House, assistant coroner Hannah Mettam said Ms Baker had been identified by a police officer.
MS Mettam said a provisional post mortem found the cause of death to be drowning. "I'd like to take this opportunity to express my sincere condolences to the family and those who knew Kim Baker at this difficult time," said Ms Mettam. The inquest was adjourned to a date yet to be fixed.
