why the Angels should trade Ohtani
. The team would assuredly receive a massive haul of prospects for his services. Here is a rebuttal: If the team trades Shohei Ohtani, it will no longer employ Shohei Ohtani, and the team should be in the business of employing Shohei Ohtani for as long as it can. The mere presence of Ohtani outstrips whatever potential a bunch of prospects might offer. If Ohtani decides to sign elsewhere this winter and all the Angels receive in return is a compensatory draft pick, well, such is life.
For now, remote as it may be, the Angels have a chance to reach the postseason with Ohtani on the roster and demonstrate to him the club can be a winner. They should pursue that chance as best they can, and not fall to the temptation of giving up and trading him. —
