In a special showcase, the developers announced the September 14 release date, and gave an in-depth look at gameplay for the title, which is coming from the same studio house responsible for Pokemon Go. Like that game, you’ll be encouraged to explore the real world in order to hunt monsters and gather materials in various locations.
There’ll be six different weapon types for you to pick from including sword and shield, great sword, long sword, Hammer, Light Bowgun and Bow. You’ll be able to team up with friends in squads of up to four players to take down monsters, but you can alternatively invite other nearby players who are in the nearby vicinity to help you on your hunt. We got to see some of that in action in the showcase video above.
There’ll be plenty of familiar monsters for fans of the series, including Great Jagras, Pukei-Pukei, Rathian, Barros, Rathalos, Diablos making up just some of the 13 different types of Monsters at launch – and there’ll be subspecies of these monsters too.
