More than two-thirds of people who took part in LancsLive's Coronation poll said they would refuse to swear allegiance to the King during the Coronation ceremony

More than two-thirds of people who took part in LancsLive's Coronation poll said they would refuse to swear allegiance to the King during the Coronation ceremony.

The service, which took place on Sunday, included the Homage of the People for the first time. The new addition to the ceremony saw people across the UK and overseas realms invited to swear an oath of allegiance to Charles. The move caused some controversy, with the Archbishop of Canterbury - who lead the ceremony - forced to clarify that people would only be invited to swear their allegiance, but that this was not an order.

LancsLive ran a poll asking people if they would swear allegiance to King Charles III last week. More than 230 people responded, with 158 saying they would not do so and 74 saying they would.
