An estimated 1.4 million applications have been affected
Motorists are having to wait months to receive their renewed driving licences due to a large backlog of applications.
It blamed the delays on social distancing requirements and industrial action at the Swansea head office. The DVLA advised motorists to use their online service instead, which is working normally. ‘There are delays in processing paper applications due to ongoing industrial action and social distancing requirements, which means that we have had fewer staff than usual on site at any one time.
But those looking for a provisional licence face even longer delays, with submissions from June 9 being looked at now.
