Speaking at the COP26 summit, Boris Johnson said MPs must still put their parliamentary position first if they take other jobs. Read more here:
"You must put your job as an MP first and you must devote yourself primarily and above all to your constituents, the people who send you to Westminster, to parliament."Mr Johnson told Sky News' political editor Beth Rigby:"I feel strongly those who do break the rules, who are not putting the interests of their constituents first, they should face appropriate sanctions and punishment.
Then on Monday, after a humiliating U-turn that prompted Mr Paterson to quit as an MP, the prime minister dodged a Commons debate on sleaze in which some of his own MPs protested bitterly against his handling of the controversy. Yet once again there was still no apology for the whole fiasco, prompting Labour's tenacious deputy leader Angela Rayner immediately to accuse him of"taking the mickey" and ensuring this sleaze row won't go away.
Sir Geoffrey has defended his extra earnings, with a statement on his website saying"he does not believe that he breached the rules".
