All Michigan State University campus activities, including sporting events and classes, have been canceled for 48 hours after on-campus shootings claimed the lives of three people Monday night, police said.

MSU police reported shots fired around 8:20 p.m. ET inside Berkey Hall, an academic building on the East Lansing campus,. Another shooting was also reported near the MSU union building, police said. Police issued a shelter-in-place order for everyone on campus and in the community while they searched for the suspect. Police announced around 12:30 a.m. ET that he was located off the MSU campus and died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The shelter-in-place on campus has been lifted, according to police., defeating the Buckeyes 62-41. The Spartans are 16-9 this season, with an 8-6 record during conference play.
