People are used to saying 'go to Edgars, they'll have it'
A much-loved shop that is known for "having everything" customers want and need is to close after 26 years.
"Their mums and dads have shopped in here and even their grandparents. I've seen them come in as a new-born baby in a pram then they've grown up and they're in their 20s now. Tony said while his shop could still survive, he and Rose have had to look at their intentions for the future. Tony said: "Sometimes when a decision is made you feel a bit of relief or you think maybe it's time we had a bit of a rest, but it's going to be tough at the end.
Taking to Facebook this week, Edgars Discount Store announced their closure to the local community. The post reads: "With great regret we have to announce that on Saturday 16th September 2023 Edgars Discount Store will close its doors for the very last time. Many customers were quick to respond and said the "Aladdin's Cave" would be very missed in the area. On person said: "Oh noooooo this is the worst news I've heard. I love this shop, I get all the things I never knew I needed in there. I'm absolutely gutted !!! The staff are amazing it's such a great little shop. It will be missed greatly x."
