Hundreds of competitors took part in the gruelling triathlon on Sunday
With a 130 mile course that takes at the very least around 10 hours to swim, cycle and run it's about as far from a relaxing Sunday as you can get. But hundreds of competitors put their bodies through the wringer today to take part inAnd it was an early start as first they completed a 2.4 mile open water swim in Pennington Flash in Leigh.
And it was a warm atmosphere as hundreds of spectators lined the streets, clapping and cheering every single competitor as they went past. Tom Rigby eventually ran out the winner in the men's race in a time of nine hours, 38 minutes and 39 seconds, while Erica Booth triumphed in the women's race, in a time of 11 hours, seven minutes and seven seconds.
