Are you happy the works are complete?

The works, which were delivered by Scottish Water’s partners George Leslie Ltd, involved installing a new stormwater storage tank and overflow pipe – alongside a newly upgraded sewer network on Braidholm Road in the hopes of protecting properties during extreme weather.

The work on the project started in June 2022 and was expected to end next month. The road, however, had fully reopened to the public earlier today. Georgina Reid, Scottish Water’s corporate affairs manager in the west, said: “This has been a challenging project for the engineers and especially for the local community.

“The logistics of constructing a 13-metre-deep storm tank in the middle of a residential area were huge and residents faced significant disruption. “Our project team worked hard with them to help minimise the impact wherever possible and we’re incredibly grateful for their patience and understanding.“It will help reduce the risk of sewer flooding in the area and make a real difference to the households who have suffered internal flooding of their properties in the past.”
