Lindsay, who used to be a professional cleaner, now shares her household tips on Instagram
A mum and cleaning influencer has shared her "natural" and "cost-effective" hack for removing stains from the sink - and it only costs 50p. Mum-of-one Lindsay Turford has a passion for cleaning and spent 13 years working as a professional cleaner before setting up her Instagram page @dazlincleaning in 2018.
Lindsay then shared a simple trick for tackling the stains you can get in the sink from residual food and soap scum. Instead of using the powerful chemicals in many cleaning products, Lindsay recommends using white vinegar - a natural alternative you may already have in the cupboard.She explained: "For a natural solution to break down soap scum in your sink, mix equal parts distilled white vinegar and hot water and spray down.
This also means that although it is natural, you should still wear gloves to protect your skin from the risk of drying or irritation. Lindsay added: "Don’t forget to wear long bathroom gloves to protect your hands." As an ambassador for Marigold, her top recommendation is a pair of Marigold Longer Bathroom Gloves, which cost £3.19.
However, before you get going with cleaning your sink, it is crucial you make sure the material the sink is made from will not be damaged by the vinegar. Lindsay suggests testing vinegar on a small area first to see what happens. Vinegar is safe for many surfaces, but you should avoid using it on natural stones like granite and marble as the acid could dull the stone.
