Karen Dohren did everything she could when transforming her New Brighton home
Karen Dohren, 59, from Bromborough bought her current home in New Brighton not long after deciding to move back to the town she had originally left to support her mum. Sadly Karen's mum passed only two weeks after, and so Karen looked for a new home before coming across the "blank canvas" terraced house.
Karen spoke to the ECHO for our Where I Live series, where each week we look at one property throughout Merseyside, speaking to the owners about what makes the home so much more than just a place to live. "It's a bit quirky. It was only because I was saying to Ian, my ex-husband, that every house I have gone to is a typical house. This house wasn't going to be that. It was a blank canvas for me.
Karen has transformed her home with her own two hands, using reclaimed materials and driftwood found on nearby beaches in New Brighton. She began woodworking as a hobby when she was sick, after receiving a shock cancer diagnosis in January 2019.
